Do I need to register in advance?

Yes, all participants must register online through the official BITM website prior to arrival. You can register as an international buyer, local exhibitor or local specialized service provider through this link.

As an international buyer, can I stay beyond 14th June?

Yes, you have the option to stay beyond the event date. Please note that you will need to apply for a tourist visa (link) and pay the SDF for the duration of your stay beyond 14th June 2026.

Where will BITM 2026 be held?

BITM 2026 will be held at the Zhinchenkhar in Thimphu, Bhutan. Home to the Centre for Bhutan and GNH Studies, the venue offers a distinguished setting where traditional Bhutanese architecture is complemented by modern institutional facilities.

The venue is located approximately 50 km from Paro International Airport, with an estimated travel time of 1 hour 15 minutes via the Paro -Thimphu Highway. From Thimphu city, the venue is situated approximately 3.5 to 4 km away, which is about a 10 minute drive from the main town area (Norzin Lam), subject to traffic conditions.

How do I get to Bhutan?

International visitors can reach Bhutan through:

  • By Air: Paro International Airport (PBH) is the main international gateway. Flights are operated exclusively by the national carriers, Drukair and Bhutan Airlines, with direct connections from:
    • Singapore (SIN)
    • Bangkok (BKK)
    • Delhi (DEL) & Kolkata (CCU)
    • Kathmandu (KTM)
    • Dhaka (DAC)
  • By Land: Entry is available through Phuentsholing via the Indian border. The nearest Indian airport is Bagdogra International Airport (IXB), which is approximately a 4-hour drive from the border.

What are the documents required for visa processing?

The following documents are required:

  • Passport copy (Color scan, valid for at least 6 months)
  • Passport-sized photo (With white background)
  • Duly filled visa form
  • SDF waiver letter (Provided by the Department of Tourism)
  • Recommendation letter addressed to the Director, Department of Immigration (Requesting visa issuance)
  • Travel itinerary

What are the technical tour options?

What is the currency used in Bhutan?

The local currency is the Bhutanese Ngultrum (BTN), which is equal to the Indian Rupee (INR).

Can I use credit cards in Bhutan?

Yes, major hotels and some shops accept credit cards, but cash is recommended. You can exchange currencies such as USD, Euro, Sing Dollar, AUD and Thai Baht to BTN at the airport, hotels and local currency exchange facilities.

What language is spoken in Bhutan?

The national language is Dzongkha, but English is widely spoken.

What is the weather like in June?

June is generally warm with occasional rain, so light clothing and rain gear are recommended.
